La Sagrada Familia – a Photo Series

This is a model of La Sagrada Familia, a catholic church in Barcelona, Spain. It’s the most incredible piece of architecture I’ve ever seen. Over the next few days I’ll share a series of photos of the church, which is still being built.

Construction started in 1882, but in 1883 Antoni Gaudi took over as the primary architect and redesigned it into this most incredible building. He oversaw the project until his death in 1926, at which time it was about 25% complete. A series of architects since then have all worked towards the realization of Gaudi’s vision.

The interior is now complete, but work continues on the exterior. We start this series with a model to show his vision of the finished exterior.

Completion is currently scheduled to occur in 2026, the centennial of Gaudi’s death.
